Special EventsCarolina East Foundation's Special EventsEach year, the Carolina East Foundation is host to four major fundraising efforts that provide financial support for the patients and programs of Carolina East Home Care & Hospice, Inc. Without these events, Carolina East would not be able to continue their journey to provide services to all eligible patients "regardless of their ability to pay". You can help us keep this journey alive by participating in one or more of these events each year. Information for each event will be updated as the event draws closer. Keep checking back for updates on your favorite event. Annual Golf Tournament
April marks the beginning of a busy fundraising year for the Carolina East Foundation starting with the biggest and longest going fundraiser to date, the annual golf tournament. The tournament, first started in 1997, has brought golfers from all over the country together for a great day of golf, fun, laughs, food and the best snacks and goodie bags around. Each year new players are added and returning players come back. Held at the River Landing Country Club, this event is a highly respected and well attended event each year. Whether you are a golfer or not, you can participate in this event. The date is set for April 25, 2012. Registration will be available in March. If you would like to make other contributions to this event, please contact Julie Howard, Foundation Director at 910-296-8061. Ride For Relief Poker Run
September is the home for the newest fundraising effort hosted by the Foundation. Bikers all over the world love to ride for a cause. This event gives them that opportunity. A 50 to 60 mile motorcycle ride with five different stops is set up for the bikers to ride and play poker along the way for a chance to win $500. The event is complete with a DJ and lunch for all riders at the end of the ride as well as door prizes, 50/50 drawing, commemorative tee-shirts and pins. Don't ride a motorcycle? That's okay, you can be a sponsor for this event. Individuals, families and organizations are encouraged to sponsor the event to help off-set the cost and provide more support for patients of Carolina East. Check out our sponsorship page located under the "Get Involved" menu item. Information on our 2012 ride will be available soon. Walk & Run for Hope
Every October, people from all over the Carolina East service area come together to participate in the 3K Family Walk and 5K Fun Run to help raise awareness of hospice care. Hospice Care is a type of care that many people do not understand unless they have had to experience it with a loved one or friend. In addition, its not one that people often want to talk about. Through a special morning in Saturday, Carolina East and the supporters of this event, strive to raise awareness of hospice care and to provide that extra financial support to those in the midst of this care. Everyone can participate in this event! Walk, run or just sponsor the event and you will be making a difference in lives of people around you. The date for this event, registration information and information on how you can get involved in this great opportunity will be available soon. Tree of Remembrance
The Tree of Remembrance started out as a way to provide some extra financial support for Carolina East during the holidays but has turned into so much more. This event provides an opportunity for friends and family members to remember their loved ones during the holiday season. The opportunity is open to everyone even if their loved one was not served by Carolina East. Participants in this fundraiser purchase a light on our Tree of Remembrance located outside at the Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center. A special ceremony is held each November to light the tree. The tree remains lit through January as a reminder of all the bright and warm memories that each person, that the tree is lit in remembrance of, brought to their friends and family. In addition, a tree is placed inside the center with ornaments adorning the names of those being remembered along with a scroll of their names and the names of those giving in their memory. The trees may go away after the holiday but the scroll remains year round for families and friends of the current patients at the facility to see and be reminded that someone else has been in their place too and they are not alone. In addition, the ornaments are given to the family. So many lives are touched through this simple yet touching event. You can remember your loved one in a special way during the holiday season too. We will light the tree on the first Sunday of November each year. Forms for purchasing these lights will be made available in September. |
